B i o g r a p h y

Jessica is a Mezzosoprano born in Caracas, Venezuela, who obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music, with a specialization in Bel Canto, from the National Experimental University for the Arts (UNEARTE).  She began her musical studies in the Orchestral System of Venezuela “El Sistema”. Her studies of Bel Canto were with the masters: William Alvarado, Margot Parés-Reyna, Isabel Palacios, Mariela Valladares, Zaira Castro and Sara Catarine.

   In 2015 Jessica went to study Vocal Technique at the Accademia Europea di Firenze with teacher Susanna Rigacci, and was student of the maestra Sara Catarine, Cathedra of Canto "Fedora Alemán". She then worked as director of Children's choirs, teacher of vocal technique and choir in the Schola Cantorum of Venezuela, as a Teacher within the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), and participated in the Houston Symphony Choir.

   She has performed several solo recitals and concerts in Caracas and on international stages:

  • Jose Angel Montero's Zarzuela Cumpleanos de Leonor (2008)​

  • Manuel de Falla’s  “La Vida Breve”, in the role of Carmela (2009), under the direction of Edmon Colomer.

  • Alberto Grau’s “Cantania” (2010 and 2012) under the direction of Luimar Arismendi and Josep Prats respectively.

  • Recital in the Accademia Europea Di Firenze (2012)

  • Osvaldo Golijov’s “St. Mark’s Passion” Carnegie Hall and Boston Symphony Hall  (2013 & 2014) under the direction of Robert Spano.

  • Handel’s “Messiah” under the direction of Maria Guinand, in the “XVIII Latin American Music Festival” in its two editions (2014)

  • “In Memoriam” concert in commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust, under the direction of Cesar Iván Lara, (2013 and 2014)

  • “Ad Libitum Festival” for young composers and contemporary music interpreters under the direction of Alfredo Rugeles (2014)

  • Faure’s “Requiem” under the direction of Alex Qian, in the Lone Star College in Houston, Texas  (2016)

  • Italian Opera Dinner guest solo artist for Philanthrartist's (non-profit organization) inaugural event, accompanied in the piano by Edlira Bardeli. Houston, Texas (April 2017)

  • Lone Star College Choir Fall Concert under the direction of Alex Qian, Houston, Texas (November 2017)

  • Mozart's Requiem under the direction of Alex Qian, in the Lone Star College in Houston, Texas (2018)

   She currently is studying in the Lone Star College, takes voice lessons with Drew Slatton, and directs the Houston Hispanic Choir​.  Also, she had been in the choir of Opera in the Heights in the productions of Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera and Berstein's Candide conducted by Dr. Eiki Isomura.
